As much as I love solo travelling, occasional trips in a big group are fun, especially with the group of friends I went with. We spent the whole holiday and subsequent weeks after laughing. To the amusement of some and horror of others, what happened in Prague, didn’t stay in Prague for long – as expected.
This trip was quite refreshing – It went from being a jokingly made suggestion on a Whats App group chat to actually happening. It’s timing was also perfect as all eight of us had various things in our lives to celebrate. We stayed at a place called The Forest Apartment which one my friends found on AirBnb, if you like a bit of green, it’s perfect. It had high ceilings, a beautiful park view from the balcony and rustic furniture decorated with green plants, It was quite idyllic. The accommodation was situated in Prague 1, the district is in the centre and close to a majority of all the favourite tourist spots, clubs and in my opinion food places.
Travelling in big groups can be rather chaotic in terms of planning but this trip was the complete opposite. While one friend sorted the accommodation, another created a very detailed itinerary – I’m attempted to upload a template. After putting their information together, they just created a document on google drive and shared it to us. We could list our preferences for the accommodation and view the Itinerary – this cut out a lot of back and forth or arguments, as we agreed to go with the majority vote. I would definitely recommend this approach, everyone was extremely pleased.
Prague itself was great, there was so much to see and do. My biggest focus was the food and it was great! I’m tempted to fly back right now as I think about a chicken and waffle meal from a particular restaurant. In terms of tourist attractions, there was lot and it helps that we were in Prague 1. We were able to just walk around and everything was close-by. As for the nightlife – I won’t go into much detail but I highly approve (side note: I bumped into my cousin on her hen night, how weird right)
Below are a few suggestions
Food: Venue Praha, Cafe Faux Pas, Pancake Place, Good Food – Coffee and Bakery
Tourist attractions: Prague Castle, St.Vitus Cathedral, Charles Bridge, John Lennon Wall, Love Lock Fence, Old Town Square, Astronomical clock show
Clubs: M1 Lounge, Deja Vu Club and Bar
If you go, you’ll have a blast!
